Deb- I just pick them to check. One way my dad taught me is that you can see a little bit of orange poking through the soil we they are done. Mine never last that long :)
Also you can you leave carrots in until it the soil freezes and someone else told me you can leave them in during the winter to store them!
Wow! Thanks. There's so much to gardening that I know nothing about. I'll consider my self very lucky if I get any vegetables this year. :)
